Funding for Research and Development (RandD)

If you're carrying out Research & Development (R&D) there may be funding to help you.

The EU will provide over €50bn in supporting R&D projects between 2007 and 2013. The UK government also provides funding for Research and Development through a number of different organisations & programmes.

One of the main ways the EU support R&D is through its Framework 7 (FP7) programme. FP7 funds R&D projects in a number of areas, including

  • Health
  • Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Biotechnology
  • Information & communication technologies (ICT)
  • Nanosciences, nanotechnologies, materials & new production technologies (NMP)
  • Energy
  • The Environment
  • Transport
  • Space
  • Security

Technology Strategy Board Competitions - open for applications

The Technology Strategy Board is a public body set up to drive innovation. The role of the TSB is to stimulate technology-enabled innovation in the areas which offer the greatest scope for boosting UK growth and productivity. The TSB promotes, supports and invests in technology research, development and commercialisation.

The TSB has a number of competitions for innovative project funding currently open;
